Circle Hat Bank Robbery Crew Arrest
Filbert Romero, the fifth suspect sought in the Circle Hat Bank Robbery Crew investigation, contacted the United States Marshal’s Service this morning to arrange for his surrender into federal custody. Romero notified the Marshal’s Service that he had retained counsel and would turn himself in sometime today.
A federal arrest warrant had been issued by the U.S. District Court for his arrest for his role in the January 26, 2009 robbery of the Wells Fargo Bank branch located at 5555 Montgomery Boulevard, NE, Albuquerque. Romero was being actively sought by Special Agents of the FBI and Officers of the Albuquerque Police Department.
This afternoon, Romero surrendered to the Marshal’s Service and is in federal custody. His initial appearance is scheduled for Thursday morning in U.S. Magistrate Court at the United States Courthouse. Romero is represented by attorney Erlinda Johnson.
