News Release
March 23, 2007

Thomas C. McClenaghan, Special Agent in Charge of the Albuquerque Division of the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) announced that William Clyde Pumphrey, age 50, of Phoenix, Arizona was arrested on a federal warrant charging him with violation of Title 18, United States Code Section 1073 Unlawful Flight to Avoid Prosecution. Pumphrey had been the subject of an intense investigation by the Bullhead City Police Department and the Phoenix Division of the FBI. Pumphrey had also been the subject of a recent broadcast on the Americas Most Wanted (AMW) Television Show.

McClenaghan disclosed that during the evening hours of 3/22/07, Special Agents of the Phoenix division had been provided with a “tip” that had been received by AMW which disclosed that Pumphrey may be in the Albuquerque area. The information was relayed to FBI Albuquerque and members of the Albuquerque Divisions Violent Crime Squad quickly began to evaluate and act on the information provided. Albuquerque FBI Agents worked through out the evening developing additional leads in an effort to locate Pumphrey. During the early morning hours of 3/23/07, Albuquerque FBI Agents were able to pinpoint that Pumphrey “was on the move” and had temporarily relocated to a local hotel in the Albuquerque area where he was eventually taken into custody without incident. Joshua Pumphrey, age 4, who was in the company of his father at the time of the arrest, was turned over to Health and Social Services officials pending the arrival of his mother from Wyoming.

Pumphrey will be incarcerated at the Metropolitan Detention Center awaiting extradition by Bullhead City Law Enforcement Officials.

The above information pertains to allegations only. All persons are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
